El Catrin is more than just a restaurant, it's a celebration of the vibrant flavors and rich culinary traditions of Mexico. The name itself is a nod to the Lotería card El Catrin, and Federico Guillen's goal was to create a space that celebrated his heritage and brought those flavors to San Antonio.

What The Locals Are Saying

“The all-day menu folds in the eggs and pancakes and chilaquiles we associate with breakfast and brunch, along with the enchiladas, huaraches and seafood we want for lunch and dinner. It’s ambitious, it’s friendly and it’s a taste of Mexico from a Mexico native with an eye for something different.”

Mike Sutter - Express News

“Amazing local place. Margaritas are excellent. All the food is authentic and tastes great. Staff is super friendly. Lots of seating. I recommend if you’re looking for something for dinner.”

Truman Gerholdt - Local Guide

In a city with Mexican restaurants all over, this place really stands out. Many reviews I read all talked up the chips and salsa, and I was really surprised to find that they had some of the best salsa I have ever tasted. It was absolutely fantastic.
